Scream 6 Gets A Release Date, Courteney Cox Returning!

Scream 6
(still yet to be officially titled) has an official release date now: March 31, 2023!

From Deadline:

Paramount has dated Spyglass Media’s Scream sequel for March 31, 2023 and its untitled Bob Marley movie starring Kingsley Ben-Adir as the reggae legend for Jan. 12, 2024.

The reboot of Scream, which opened over MLK weekend, has taken in $140M+ at the global box office. Paramount and Spyglass promptly greenlit a sequel with the whole creative gang returning including directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick co-writing the screenplay, and Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak producing with Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella executive producing.

Also, Courteney Cox has confirmed that she has received the script for Scream 6, indicating that she is set to return.

From Collider & Just for Variety with Marc Malkin:

Cox confirmed this on the Just for Variety with Marc Malkin podcast while promoting her new horror comedy series Shining Vale. They began their franchise conversation by talking about how the fifth Scream got made with the actress having nothing but praise for the latest film, but then they got into the juicy details of her involvement in the next sequel. Malkin straight up asked Cox when she will start shooting on the sequel, and she said, “I got the script yesterday. And I haven’t read it yet. I just got it, and I’m so used to getting, you know, Shining Vale scripts, which are 26 pages, and I’m, ‘Whoah, I’ve got to read a script.’ I’m excited to read it.” Cox then says the film is likely starting its shoot in June in Canada which lines up with the previously reported summer shooting date.

Hopefully, Neve Campbell can follow. But, the Scream 6 ball is officially rolling.
