Officially PG-13 + New Pic

I feel like Billy Loomis stuck in a PG-13 relationship when all I want is an NC-17 (or at least the original R - but we can hope for the DVD release, right?). From Fangoria: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dimension Films has, as we first reported, re-edited Wes Craven’s CURSED and received a PG-13 from the MPAA. The board’s official explanation for the rating is "horror violence/terror, some sexual references, nudity, language and a brief drug reference." The Fango staff caught a screening this week of what was clearly the R version, and frankly, we’re curious about how coherently a few key scenes will play with their hard-gore content—including severed heads and bodies—watered down or deleted. (And calm down, Shannon Elizabeth fans; the "nudity" is just a glimpse of Jesse Eisenberg’s bare butt.) In the same ratings report, Dimension’s THE BROTHERS GRIMM also nabbed a PG-13, for "violence, frightening sequences and brief suggestive material." Ironically, that same release states that Miramax’s long-on-the-shelf UNDERTAKING BETTY has been recut to boost it from a PG-13 to an R! Meanwhile, thank goodness, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR received an R this week for "violence and terror, sexuality, language and brief drug use." As for CURSED, you can read our exclusive interview with Craven in Fango #241, on sale February 15.
